In 1825 Joseph Niépce discovered that a silver and chalk mixture darkens under exposure to light. Later on, Louis Daguerre observed that exposing the silver first to iodine vapour, before exposure to light, and then to mercury fumes after the photograph was taken, could form a latent image; bathing the plate in a salt bath then fixes the image.
In 1992, as I equipped my own home laboratory with adequate accoutrements, I was performing the experiments as a hobby, with what could be named at that time as modern technology.
The word photography comes from the Greek „φωτο” (photo) and „γραφία” (graphia) and means „drawing with light”. The art of photography is fascinating as most of it is the way we see us and the world we live in as pictures created by light.
Basically, this is the art of God; we can only treasure it and capture a glimpse of what it meant for us at the time of perception. This web space is a simple reminder of my perception on different landscapes, sites and people.
